Full course description

We are exposed to different types of information and media daily. Not all information that we come across is true and not all media that we view is suitable or beneficial to us. Information and Media Literacy Skills are crucial because they involve being able to tell what information can be trusted and knowing what to do when we encounter false information and unhealthy media. Some of the information and media we consume is copyrighted, meaning there are certain rules that one has to follow when viewing and using them.

This course contains three modules:

  • Verifying Accuracy of Information
  • Handling Inappropriate Content
  • Respecting Copyright

At the end of this course, learners should be able to:

  • Identify fake news / misinformation
  • Identify inappropriate content
  • Recognise copyright and demonstrate how to cite and give credit for the content used

This online course is open for Pathlight School students to access.

Pathlight School students can enrol in this course after logging in to Learn for Life eCampus.
