The Mikado

Opera is a compelling way to tell stories through song and drama. It is a higher-level musical that needs to be sung by trained voices. Often, the opera is sung through without lines of spoken dialogue.

This course will introduce you to: The Mikado.

This opera will introduce the form of operetta, which means "little opera". It is a lighter form of opera with happy endings and less violent and gory plots. The music is also more accessible and tuneful. It has links to both musical theatre and opera, and some operettas have roles for both singing actors and trained singers.
