Opera is a compelling way to tell stories through song and drama. It is a higher-level musical that needs to be sung by trained voices. Often, the opera is sung through without lines of spoken dialogue.
This course will introduce you to: Die Fledermaus.
This opera presents a Viennese operetta, Die Fledermaus (German for The Bat). It was written by Johann Strauss, the Austrian waltz composer. Though he is famous for composing waltzes including The Blue Danube, Tales from the Vienna Woods, the Emperor Waltz and Voices of Spring, he also wrote a series of successful German-language operettas. Die Fledermaus is the best-known operetta and has enjoyed many productions since its first performance in 1874.
