Opera is a compelling way to tell stories through song and drama. It is a higher-level musical that needs to be sung by trained voices. Often, the opera is sung through without lines of spoken dialogue.
This course will introduce you to: Aida.
This opera contains many images of what we associate with the art form: grand, expansive scenes, intimacy, and passion. It tells the story of a doomed love between an Egyptian army captain and an Ethiopian slave girl. Aida is one of the most popular operas in the world. For instance, it has enjoyed over 1,000 performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York since 1886.
